Emily Smith inspires students to develop a growth mindset in learning. Her philosophy is that all children are capable of learning when they believe they can. She starts each class with affirmations that encourage creativity and kindness while instilling resiliency and accountability. She celebrates mistakes because as students are aware and overcome challenges they are able to enjoy immense growth. Emily Smith graduated from Southern Utah University with a Bachelor of Science in the dual degree of Elementary Education and Special Education. When joining Vista’s 3rd grade team in 2018, she brought 7 years of experience teaching in 3rd and 4th grade classrooms in addition to teaching for Utah Online. Emily was raised in Santa Clara, Utah and has grown up with the red sand between her toes. She is married to Brian Smith and is the mother of 4 girls, 3 of which have been blessed by attending Vista. After living many places and traveling to various countries, such as Mexico, Austria, Germany, Italy, Israel and Japan, Emily is happy to call Southern Utah her home once again.
