Computer Science and Technology Instructor with responsibility for running a 3d Printing Lab and teaching computer science courses including: 3D Design, 3d Printing, Coding, Computer Engineering and/or Introduction to Computer Science courses. Software experience in any of the following areas: Adobe Creative Suite, Garageband, iMovie, Autodesk, 3d Fusion, 3D Tin, Tinkercad, Sketchup, Blender, and other online applications preferred.  Instructors will integrate video games, robotics, raspberry pi, Arduino, electrical engineering, and related topics. School competitions with First Lego League, Vex Robotics, and Drones.

Job Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Differentiate computer science curriculum to the needs of the school’s vast programs.
  • Research and implement innovative new computer science tools into courses.
  • Organize and prepare materials and equipment to foster a positive learning environment
    of instruction.
  • Work with other team members to align and build technology curricula
  • Work with other departments and programs to integrate technology
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment for a group of 20-30 elementary/middle school students at all times
  • Understand and adapt teaching strategies to youth with a variety of learning styles and capabilities
  • Teach, direct, and supervise students in computer science and other technology
  • Confidently lead students in cutting-edge computer science activities
  • Engage students in the opportunities a computer science education provides
  • Document student work in the program via social media and blog posts
  • Work together with colleagues (IT Director, Program Director, and other Computer Science Instructors) to deliver high-quality programs for youth
  • Meet weekly for full-staff meetings and professional development
  • Maintain open communication with guardians of students and other teachers

Ideal Candidates:

  • Certified teacher in the state of Utah or work experience in related technical field or career who can qualify for Alternate Route to Licensure (ARL)
  • Experience teaching in a classroom environment
  • Independent and self-motivated
  • Positive attitude and has a good rapport with middle school-aged children
