Hello Vista School Community!
After careful consideration, the Vista Board of Directors approved amended Bylaws to transition from a mix of elected and appointed board seats to a fully appointed board. This approach aligns with the standard practice of most charter schools and is expected to strengthen board governance. In collaboration with local and state charter school leaders, the Governance Committee has developed a selection process that we believe will better support our Vista School Community.
To ensure a well-rounded and diverse board that can effectively meet the school’s complex needs, we will implement a thorough vetting process for board member selection. A recent board assessment identified key areas for growth, including legal and compliance expertise, facilities and real estate management, and financial oversight. By strengthening these areas, we aim to enhance the Board’s ability to support Vista School’s long-term success.
We are currently looking to fill three board seats. The Board welcomes individuals from the Vista community who are interested in serving and possess the necessary experience and credentials to apply for a board position. To be considered, please submit a completed application (attached to this email) and resumé to governance@vistautah.com. The deadline for submissions is Monday, May 5, 2025, at 5:00 pm.
A Board subcommittee, consisting of two board members and two administrators, will review all applications and recommend qualified candidates for an interview. The interview will cover background and expertise, past board experience, and other topics related to board responsibilities. Qualified applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview. Following interviews, the subcommittee will recommend qualified candidates to the Vista Board. We anticipate the selection process will conclude by the end of the school year, and new board members will commence service on June 1, 2025.
This new selection process will support Vista’s continued excellence in academics, performing arts and technology. We value and welcome the input of our Vista Community and look forward to working together to ensure the continued success of Vista School.
