TEACHER LICENSING

Vista School employs educators who hold Professional Educator and Associate Educator licenses issued by the Utah State Board of Education (USBE). Vista School also employs educators who hold LEA Specific licenses approved by the Vista School Board.  The Vista Board of Directors issues LEA Specific licenses in accordance with the following policy: 

- Educators with LEA Specific licenses can enroll in the Alternate Pathway to Professional Educator Licensing (APPEL) provided by the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools (UAPCS) or Southwest Educational Development Center (SEDC).

- Classroom teachers must have at least a Bachelor's degree to qualify for an LEA Specific license. Specialty teachers must have at least a Bachelor's degree or be working toward a Bachelor's degree to qualify for an LEA Specific license.

- During the first year of employment, educators who have an LEA Specific license will complete the following training: Educator Ethics, Classroom Management and Instruction, Basic Special Education Law, and Utah Effective Teaching Standards.

- All Vista School employees must complete a criminal background check as a condition of employment.

2024-2025 School Year:

Out of a total of 62 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) educators,

  • 73% are professionally qualified for their assignment.
  • 10% are qualified through an associate program, and
  • 18% are qualified through an LEA-specific route.
